Katherine Claxton
Guest teacher, Choreographer & Instructor
Miss. Katherine began her dance training in 2011, at the age of 11, with Mrs. Sandy & Mrs. Lee Ann at Dancers' Corner. It quickly became her passion and her natural talent began to shine. She went from taking two classes per week to spending almost every day at the studio either in a class for her level, or assisting in classes for younger children. Miss. Katherine studies all styles of dance, and has attended multiple SADM conventions and other master classes in Ballet, as well as being accepted into and attending the Oklahoma City Ballet summer program in 2015 and the Orlando Ballet summer program in 2016. She has danced many solo roles in Dancers' Corner's ballet productions, including the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland, Summer Fairy in Cinderella, Arabian soloist in Mary Poppins, Sea Witch in Little Mermaid, and Gretel in Hansel & Gretel.
Miss. Katherine passed her teaching certification tests through SADM in Ballet, Tap & Jazz in Fall of 2016 and began teaching and choreographing a ballet & tap class for 4-5yr olds. She continued assisting in many classes for ages 3 - 12, as well as teaching multiple Jazz classes for ages 5-7, and she had two ballet, tap, jazz classes which she solely taught and choreographed for the 2017-2018 season. We are so proud of all her accomplishments and are celebrated her senior year, with a little sadness, and wished her well as she embarked on her college journey as a dance major at Belhaven University where she auditioned and was accepted for the 2018-2019 academic year. She is beginning her junior year in 2020.
We love to welcome her back to the studio for guest teaching when she is home.
